Reccomended for ages 12 and up.

Ijams has a long history with bird counts, with Spring counts dating back to the 1930s. This year Ijams is hosting its first ever Christmas Bird Count (CBC), and we want you to be a part of it! The annual CBC began in 1900 with 25 sites, and has grown to include 2,536 sites including Ijams Nature Center. We will look high and low to count as many birds as possible. Join us and thousands of other Citizen Scientists as we help protect the birds we love.

This program meets at the Ijam’s Visitor Center. From there we will split up to cover as much of Ijams’ 315 acres as possible. Each group will be lead by an experienced Ijams Naturalist, and we welcome all experience levels.

It is recommended to bring your own binoculars for this event, as most of the program will be spent outdoors looking for birds. This event will be held rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Tickets are free, and registration ends on Friday, December 14th at 4 p.m. Members can enter the code COUNT for $2 off. Ijams offers full refunds up to 7 days before the program
