HIKING CLUB: February Hike

Date(s) - February 02, 2019
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Ijams Hiking Club meets the first Saturday of each month and provides a way for hikers with moderate experience to safely enjoy the 1,000 forested acres of the Urban Wilderness with Ijams naturalists. Hike a different trail each month while enjoying the amazing nature surrounding you in whatever way you wish. Head to the front to make good time with the hiking guide, enjoy a slower pace with an Ijams naturalist to learn about plants and animals, do a little of both, or find your own way to enjoy the trails. At the end of the year reflect on the trails and enjoy your accomplishments with a club potluck.

This month we meet at the Ijams Visitor Center to complete remaining trails there: North Cove down the Skelton Greenway to Mead’s Quarry for Pink Marble and Tharp Trace, and return on Greenway.  Approximately 3 miles.  Tharp Trace has significant elevation change and participants should be prepared for a tough hike with sturdy shoes and a hiking pole.

Meets at the Ijams Visitors Center.

New members pay $75 for the 2019 year of hikes and returning members pay $45. This fee grants you access to all the perks of Hiking Club membership.  The Ijams Hiking Club is for anyone 18+. Ijams does not allow dogs on any hikes. Register here.
