Tonka, the largest bull elephant in the country, is a resident at Zoo Knoxville.

(Ages 5 and up) Did you know that elephants can recognize themselves? Did you know that that their large ears help them regulate their body temperature? African elephants are the largest terrestrial animals currently walking the planet and the Grasslands Africa! exhibit at Zoo Knoxville allows visitors to get nose to trunk with these fascinating animals. Join us for this month’s science cafe and learn more about these majestic creatures. Leading the discussion will be Becca Wyatt, Elephant Lead Keeper at Zoo Knoxville. There will be a brief presentation followed by an informal Q & A session and refreshments.

Kids (ages 5-12) are welcome to join the Science Café Kids’ Club where they will participate in fun hands-on activities.

This program is FREE of charge, but pre-registration is required. Click here for online registration, or call (865) 577-4717, ext. 110 to register by phone.
