TAKE ACTION!: Citizen Science Field Day

March 7 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 10 AND UP

Now in its second year, Take Action! Big and Small Ways to Save the Planet is a four-week conservation series that focuses on the many different ways you can have a positive impact on the planet.

One of the most direct ways to have an impact is through Citizen Science! Ijams currently has three projects that get everyday people out into the field collecting data for scientists, and YOU can get in on the fun.

After a brief introduction about what Citizen Science is, you’ll spend the rest of the afternoon in the field getting hands-on with nature. You’ll search under rocks and logs to find salamanders, learn how to read the signs of changing seasons, and use beat sheets to collect insects. No lab coats or goggles required for this science, just some sturdy shoes and a love of the outdoors.

NOTE: Ijams recommends downloading the iNaturalist app to your smart device for this program. Simply type iNaturalist into the app store on your device and create an account before arriving. This is not required, but can be helpful during the program.
