Saturday September 20, 2008
Special thanks to Symphony in the Park supporters

By Sally Judiscak

The 23rd Annual Symphony in the Park held on September 7, was a most memorable evening. Over 470 guests attended in support of Ijams raising $70,000 net. Guests socialized during cocktail hour while viewing 104 unique auction items that included 2008 Beijing Olympics memorabilia, original artwork, family vacation getaways and entertainment packages. The Ijams Spirit award was presented to long time board member and supporter, Teenie Hayworth. Belinda and Frank Gambuzza, owners of Salon and Spa Visage, emceed the event. After guests enjoyed a delicious gourmet meal catered by The Lord Lindsey, they listened to  a performance by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, who were generously sponsored by Stephen and April Harris. It was a special homecoming for guest artist, Ashley Cleveland, who grew up in Knoxville and is a three- time Grammy award winner. She sang "All Creatures of God and King" and "Amazing Grace" with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and performed a solo "Precious Lord, T

ake My Hand" with her pink acoustic guitar. At the evening's end, guests were given reusable grocery bags donated by Kroger as party favors.  A special thank you to all sponsors, patrons, donors and Ijams volunteers and staff who made the event a huge success!
