Ijams takes a technological step forward

Tuesday January 02, 2007

Sometime this month, Ijams will switch from its old, outdated database to new and easier to use fundraising software.                    Here at Ijams, we keep track of all of our donor information in a database called Raiser’s Edge.  Because our version of Raiser’s Edge is so old, the computers running it have had to stay on old       operating systems.  In order to be able to update these computers to newer and faster running              operating systems, we had to buy new database software, called Fundraiser Pro.  We have spent the last couple of months taking on-line classes to learn how to use the new database and now we’re           almost ready to make the switch.  Sometime during the month of January we will convert all of the information in the old database (thousands and thousands of records) over to Fundraiser Pro.  Why are we filling your head with all of this technological mumbo jumbo?  Because, after the data is converted to the new database, it might take a couple of weeks for us to settle in to the new system, so we must ask for your patience.  If you renew your membership, buy one for someone else or otherwise make a gift to Ijams during that switch over period, it might take just a little bit longer for your donation to be processed.  On the upside, in the future we’ll be able to keep track of your membership and donations much more efficiently and in greater detail.  So, please bear with us and thanks, in advance, for your understanding.
