Can’t find the time to take your group or class on a field trip? Then let Ijams bring a field trip into your classroom! Thanks to generous funding from Knox County, Ijams is pleased to offer these outreach programs at a reasonable cost.

Animals in Winter K-5 Students will explore the various strategies that help animals survive the East Tennessee winter. Some animals really do hibernate in winter. Others utilize other strategies like migration, and some are just adapted to living in cold weather. This program includes a live animal presentation.

Duration: 45-60 Minutes
Additional Sessions: $100 each
Group Size: 30 maximum
Available Dates: November-February

Live Animal Presentations All Age Groups, Including Adults Live animal programs are typically 30-40 minutes in length, and involve up to two different animals. Available animals may include: Screech Owl, American Kestrel, Rat Snake, Virginia Opossum, Box Turtle, Red-eared Slider, Map Turtle

Additional Sessions: $50 each
Group Size: 50 maximum


How to Schedule an Outreach Program:

Please use this form to request Ijams Nature Center outreach programs for any youth group, camp, or school group. Read the guidelines below carefully, and then complete the registration form that follows. All requests will be handled in the order in which they are received.
