Paddling at Ijams

For many folks, Ijams is synonymous with water. Whether it’s cooling off in Toll Creek, exploring Mead’s Quarry Lake by boat, or taking in the scenic view of the Tennessee River, visitors have been enjoying the waterscapes of Ijams for decades.
Paddling Workshops and Trips
If you are interested in learning more about how to paddle, or taking some exciting paddling trips, be sure to learn more about the IJAMS OUTDOOR ACADEMY! Our talented instructors will be leading canoe clinics, kayak clinics, and paddling excursions throughout the summer. Be sure to check our CALENDAR OF EVENTS for the most current program information.
Paddling Rentals at Ijams
One of our most popular activities is paddling on Mead’s Quarry Lake. In partnership with River Sports Outfitters, visitors can rent canoes, kayaks and paddleboards to get a better look at the amazing views of this historic marble quarry.
Fall 2016 hours:
- Monday through Friday: 3pm-7pm
- Saturday: 11am-6pm
- Sunday: 12pm-7pm
$12 per boat for one hour

Please note: private boats are NOT PERMITTED on Mead’s Quarry Lake.
Liability Waivers: All participants will be issued a PFD along with appropriate paddling equipment. In addition, all participants will need to complete a signed waiver. EVERYONE under the age of 18 MUST HAVE a waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
