PARK GROUNDS

Ijams Nature Center's park grounds encompass 175-acres of natural habitats: forests, meadows, creeks and streams, caves, wetlands, and an extensive boardwalk on the bank of the Tennessee River. The naturally-restored Mead's Quarry site features a 25-acre lake, rocky bluffs and protected caves. In all, Ijams' natural areas include 5-miles of natural surface trails, paved trails as well as the Will Skelton Greenway which intersects park boundaries.

Ijams' park is home to biologically diverse populations of native flora and fauna which may be observed on trail hikes, such as the Great blue heron, eastern box turtle, bullfrogs, and many more.
