About the Event
Join Ijams Nature Center and The Big Camera on March 6 from Noon-2pm in a creative celebration to honor one of the first female photographers, Anna Atkins.
In the early days of photography, Anna Atkins was an English botanist who made Cyanotypes to document her botanical
collections and created one of the first illustrated books. She is considered to be the first female photographer. Her books are in the British Museum and in collections around the world.
The Cyanotype process uses the sun and a combination of light sensitive salts to make a print. As part of this Creative Series event, you will learn to make a Cyanotype fabric banner and learn more about this amazing woman. This community event is free and all ages are welcome.
